State police fire marshals are trying to find out what caused a deadly house fire in Mill Village this weekend.
The fire broke out at a home on Dutchtown Road about 6:00 PM Saturday. Police say 85-year-old Clarence Spiers lived alone in the home. Rescuers pulled him out, but couldn't revive him.
Deputy Coroner Korac Timon says Spiers suffered smoke inhalation and burns. They'll do toxicology tests to confirm the cause of death.
Sources say a wood burning stove may have sparked the fire. Two state police fire marshals visited the scene today, they have not issued a formal ruling.
