Walleye fall to Kalamazoo 3-1 on Friday

TOLEDO - Trevor Parkes scored the lone goal for the Walleye as they lost to the Kalamazoo Wings 3-1 at the Huntington Center on Friday night. Toledo now has an overall record of 21-17-0-4 and are 9-7-0-3 on home ice.

Toledo would strike first, with forward Trevor Parkes picked up a loose puck and skated around Kalamazoo goaltender Joel Martin to backhand the puck into the net at 2:21 of the opening period. Forward Andrej Nestrasil assisted on Parkes' first goal of the season.

Kalamazoo would then score twice to take a 2-1 lead. The first goal came from Nick Sirota at 4:34 of the period, getting the puck past Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson. John Armstrong would then score the second goal at 9:16.

Kalamazoo would out shoot Toledo 11-10 through the first period of play.

No goals were scored in the second period, keeping the score 2-1 in favor of the Wings.

Dustin Cloutier scored the lone goal in the third period, extending Kalamazoo's lead to 3-1 after he scored a shorthanded breakaway goal at the 3:22 mark.
