After months of discussion, it's official.
In a unanimous decision, Erie County Council tonight approved the tax-increment financing plan (TIF) for Lord Corporation.
It will give the company more than $2 million in tax breaks, to help them move into the old Bush Industries site in Summit Township.
Those in support of the plan, say council's decision was crucial.
"It's really hard to overstate how important this is," said John Elliot of the Economic Development Corporation. "First, Lord Corp. by itself, it's direct employment and supply contracts, and the halo of activity around Lord represents 5% of Erie and Crawford counties combined economy."
Lord is expected to invest $75 million into this project.
