ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - A southeastern Ohio university says it canceled
classes and an evening men's basketball game after a man sought in an
armed robbery was seen near the campus.
Ohio University says its president decided to close
the campus and cancel afternoon classes Wednesday as a precaution.
Students were told to return to their dormitories and apartments.
Ohio University officials had called in extra
police officers and notified students Wednesday morning following an
armed robbery at an apartment complex near campus. The school says the
suspect allegedly had a handgun and fled on foot in the direction of the
university.
The university in Athens was expected to reopen Thursday.
The school said it hoped to reschedule the Bobcats' home basketball game against Eastern Michigan University.
