Gannon Finishes Major Lighting Project

Posted: Updated:

The streets around Gannon University's downtown Erie campus are now much brighter.

Gannon has finished a $1.1 million project to install more than 100 new light posts with LED lights. The new lights are spread out over 18 city blocks.

The project began with students saying better lighting was a key concern.

Gannon President Dr. Keith Taylor said, "So the Student Government Association brought this forth as their priority. they worked hand in hand with us to do the research as to what needed to be done and how it could be done."

The new lights are energy efficient and focused down on the street and sidewalk to avoid light pollution.
