A person driving down LaGrange street in North Toledo Friday morning spots a man in the middle of the road who was shot in the stomach.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. on LaGrange near Mettler.
The man was on his hands and knees in the middle of the street crawling to the sidewalk when a driver spotted him, pulled over, and called 9-1-1.
Police say the victim is Marcus Buchanant. He is at Mercy Saint Vincent Medical Center and is expected to survive. Police say Buchanant is from Florida and was staying in Toledo at the Cherry Street Mission.
Police are now investigating where this all started.
People who work at businesses in the area don't believe he was shot on LaGrange.
Police say Buchanant has a gun shot wound in the abdomen but is still alive, at St. V's in critical condition.
Detectives say what is unusual is there was no blood or shell casings on the ground.
Right across the street is Hausman laundry. The laundromat was open at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Detectives who were looking for witnesses talk to Maggie Banda who has worked at Hausman Laundry for almost 25 years.
Banda says she didn't see or hear anything.
"No, not at all," says Banda. "Normally, you can hear a gun shot. So that's why I don't think it happened here."
There were extra eyes in the sky in the form of Sky Cop cameras perched atop the nearby intersection. However, police say the camera was turned the other direction and likely didn't catch how Buchanant ended up in the middle of the street. But investigators plan to review the video to see if it captured anything suspicious.
