Ohio patrol trooper reinstated after DUI

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper who was caught driving drunk while speeding at 102 mph has gotten her job back.

An arbitrator ruled that 40-year-old Tiffany Wilson's firing last March was "harsh" for a first time DUI offender with a spotless record as trooper. She was reinstated with back pay and now works out of the Delaware post near Columbus.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Wilson was fired a few weeks after her post lieutenant pulled her over on Interstate 71 going 102 mph. Her blood alcohol level was 0.16%, twice the legal limit for driving in Ohio. She was convicted of DUI.

The arbitrator ruled that Wilson must work under a "last chance" agreement for five years and can be fired for any work violation.
