In spite of a cold and snowy February 2, 2013 in Erie, Pennsylvania's famous prognosticator, a groundhog, says we'll have an early Spring. The 127 year Groundhog Day tradition continued here in our state.
Punxsutawney Phil, the furry forecaster, was disturbed from hibernation for his yearly forecasting task. As is tradition, the famous groundhog was placed upon an oak stump and spoke to his handlers in groundhog-ese. They then proclaimed to a crowd of thousands, "And so ye faithful, there is no shadow to see...an early Spring for you and me."
The tradition takes place every year at Gobbler's Knob. Even though the groundhog is calling for an early Spring this year, you should probably keep your winter coat handy and keep watching the forecasters on WICU12 and SEE News. Punxsutawney Phil is only right 39-percent of the time.
