BOSTON (AP) - Authorities say a charter bus heading from Harvard
University to Pennsylvania has struck a bridge in Boston, injuring 33
people.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities say an oversized bus carrying 42 people was attempted to
pass under a bridge when it crashed on Soldier's Field Road, a major
crosstown road.
Several passengers were trapped on the bus for hours. Firefighters stood on top of the bus using boards to extract them.
Jennifer Mehigan, a spokeswoman for Boston EMS,
says 33 people were taken to hospitals. She says five were injured
seriously and 28 suffered minor injuries. She says they ranged from
teens to adults.
A spokesman for the bus company had no immediate information on the crash.
