Man Found Dead At Downtown Erie Bus Stop

Erie police and the coroner are investigating the death of a man found outside lying on a bus stop bench Sunday morning.

The man is identified as 44-year-old Marvin Butler. Deputy Coroner Dennis Suscheck says he was found dead on the bench in the 900 block of State Street at about 9:30 AM. 

We've learned that the man was not homeless, and he lived in the Sassafras Street Apartments. Family members told the coroner they talked on the phone with him as recently as 10 or 11 o'clock Saturday night.

A security camera at a nearby business showed there was no foul play. The coroner's office will complete toxicology tests to see if any other factors led to his death.
