Guilty Plea in Local Shooting Death

A Harborcreek man, accused of shooting and killing his friend pleaded guilty in court today.

19 year old John Schlick made a court appearance this morning, pleading guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless Endangerment. 

Aggravated Assault charges were dropped in exchange for that plea.  Schlick is accused of killing his friend, Marshal Curl, at his home in Harborcreek last September. 

Police say Schlick admitted to drinking for hours, loading his father's handgun, and holding it a few inches from Curl's chest.  That's when the gun went off.  Sentencing is scheduled for March 21.
