Lourdes Remains in Second Place With Road Win at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE - Another solid effort by Lourdes University allowed the NAIA Division II's top defense to lead the Gray Wolves to their fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves defeated Indiana Tech 59-45 on the road at the Schaeffer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The victory keeps Lourdes in a tie with Madonna for second place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference one game behind Madonna in the league standings.  This is the Gray Wolves third five-game winning streak of the season.

Remy Fleurima (North Lauderdale, Fla./Coconut Creek H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 points while Corey Harvey (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson H.S.) and Enique Mason (Indianapolis, Ind./Fishburne Military H.S.) each added 10 in the victory.

The Gray Wolves opened the game by building a 16-6 lead over the first 10 minutes only to see the Warriors tied the contest by the 5:39 mark with a 10-0 run of their own.  A triple by Fleurima put Lourdes on top for good and started a 9-3 Gray Wolves run to close the first half.

Lourdes led 25-19 at the break and opened up the advantage out of the locker room.  An 11-2 run over the first five minutes of the second half pushed the lead to 15, 36-21 and the Gray Wolves never looked back.  Lourdes never led the lead fall back into single digits, holding an 11-15 points advantage most of the stanza.

The Gray Wolves held Indiana Tech to just 33.3% shooting from the floor and outrebounded the Warriors 37-27 on the afternoon.  Lourdes shot 43.8% from the floor as a team and made 13-of-14 free throws (92.9%).

Jeff Hoskins led Indiana Tech (19-7, 12-6 WHAC) with 11 points while Antonio Landers and Antonio Cannon added 10 points each.

Lourdes (18-7, 13-5) will look to match the longest winning streak in school history on Thursday evening as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
