A group that promotes Tall Ships and education about sailing is holding its 40th annual conference in Erie, in part to help plan for the Perry 200 Tall Ships Festival in September.
Tall Ships America brings in representatives from around North America, people with a common interest in the masted sailing vessels of days gone by.
"The ships of course are romantic, they represent adventure on the high seas," Executive Director Bert Rogers tells us. "It's not often that the public has a chance to interact with these vessels."
Visitors to Erie will have the chance to interact with Tall Ships beginning September 5th, when the four day festival helps promote the 18-month honoring of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie.
Erie's Flagship Niagara will be the centerpiece for the festival.
