Members of the community are joining forces to help out a local policeman, recently injured in a snowmobile accident.
This weekend, they're hosting a benefit for Millcreek Police Officer Brandon Heynes. Last week, he was involved in a snowmobile accident.
Were told, Heynes broke his back in three places and is now facing a long road to recovery. So on Saturday, there will be a benefit at CrossFit FBO at 1311 Chestnut Street in Erie.
All of the money raised will help Heynes in his recovery.
"We really felt that since he is such a good person, and he would do anything for anybody, that we needed to return the favor," said benefit organizer Dee Caruana. "Being a Millcreek Police Officer, he's always out there working and serving and risking his life for us, so we thought we'd try to help him relieve some financial stress."
The benefit will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $10.00 donation gets you food and drink.
