The US Postal Service announced today that it is ending Saturday delivery of mail, effective in August. We asked Erie residents to respond to the news.
CHERYL REES-ERIE
"I'm OK with it. I think it will be fine. I wish it wouldn't be that way, but it is. It's something we'll learn to live with, I'm sure."
JACK BLANK-ERIE
"I think it's a reasonable thing to do in today's society. Why do we need Saturday delivery?"
JODI CASILLO-ERIE
"It's fine with me. usually on Saturday you don't get that much anyway. hey, it's the sign of the times. everything's going you know."
CINDY SWEARINGEN-EDINBORO
"I like to get my mail daily. I don't like not having it on Sunday."
CHRISTOPHER HUFF-GANNON STUDENT
"I think that they still should continue having Saturday mail. For the benefit of things that need to get to us on that day.'
LARRY RACO-MILLCREEK
"I guess they made a business decision. It would be nice if the day off were in the middle of the week so there weren't two days in a row that you wouldn't get mail."
JIM DALY-ERIE
"Those are good paying jobs and I'd like to see them stay in business. But whatever they got to do."
JENNIFER DESROCHERS-ERIE
"Well I guess it was inevitable with online banking services and everything going on. So I'm not surprised by it. But I do wonder how it effects postal workers and their jobs."
ROBIN MYSNYK-ERIE
"I think we should keep the mail delivery. I think we should keep our people working. They end the mail delivery, they're putting a lot of people out of work."
JAMES JOHNSON-ERIE
"They would be eliminating their jobs too. That's what would happen. You take the hourly work away from them. What are we doing eliminating jobs again?"
