American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to Offer Cardiovascular Exhibit, CPR Training at Kansas City Event

Kansas City, Mo. (PRWEB) February 08, 2013

The 2013 Western Farm Show won’t focus solely on new products and technologies to help make farming operations healthy and productive. Also showcased will be informative exhibits and screenings to help keep farm families healthy.

The show’s popular Health & Safety Roundup area returns to the 52nd annual Western Farm Show Feb. 22-24, 2013, at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City, Mo. Included will be interactive safety displays and free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, hearing tests, tetanus shots and adult and child vision screening.

“Working with the Health & Safety Roundup is such a rewarding experience,” says Diane Olson, Missouri Farm Bureau’s promotion and education director and coordinator for the show’s Health & Safety Roundup. “Each year, we have attendees come back to the show and let us know that, based on the screenings they received the previous year, they went to the doctor and received necessary medical direction to improve their health.”

New to this year’s exhibit will be a cardiovascular health exhibit offered by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about improving their heart health score by following healthy lifestyle habits, while also gaining life-saving information about hands-only “Friends and Family” CPR.

“February is American Heart Month, and the perfect time for attendees to learn more about ways to protect their heart health,” notes Ken Dean, Western Farm Show manager. “We’re delighted to partner with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to add this new, exciting dimension to our show.”

Reflecting its new relationship with the two organizations, the Western Farm Show has adopted a new theme for this year’s show – “The Heart of Ag” – and will make a major donation to their My Heart. My Life. platform. This theme also reflects the Western Farm Show’s central location in America’s agricultural heartland and its long track record of hosting a major regional farm show dedicated to production agriculture.

Other Western Farm Show highlights include one of the largest indoor displays of farm equipment in the Midwest, the Championship Tractor Pull, NCBA Stockmanship & Stewardship Low-Stress Livestock Handling Demonstration, FFA Day and Family Living Center. The show will feature over 500 exhibitors and 400,000 square feet of floor space filled with new products, buildings, fertilizer, feed, seed and much more.

Show hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. Adult admission is $8 and free for children 12 and under. Separate admission is required for the tractor pull event, held at Kemper Arena, a short walk from the American Royal Complex.
