2 suffer fatal heart attacks while shoveling snow

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (AP) - Two men who collapsed while shoveling snow have died during a storm that barreled across Michigan.

The Oakland Press reports that a Waterford Township man suffered a heart attack about 9 a.m. Friday while clearing his driveway. He later died at a local hospital.

MLive.com reports that a man in his early 40s suffered a heart attack Thursday and died while shoveling snow from a driveway in Hudsonville, west of Grand Rapids. Paramedics weren't able to revive him.

Snowfall at times was steady Thursday and Friday across Michigan. Some areas in the Lower Peninsula received as much as 14 inches.

Hospitals in the Grand Rapids area report patients with fractures and head injuries after falls on ice. Others suffered back injuries while using snow blowers.
