Ice swallows up Lake Erie

TOLEDO, Ohio -

The ice cover on Lake Erie has grown quickly this week. Most of the lake's surface has at least some ice on it, and nearly 75% of the lake is covered in ice. The ice concentration has jumped from about 25% to 75% in just one week. The ice thickness is now between 3 to 5 inches for most of the lake. The ice will shift and melt slightly in the next few days, before rebuilding later next week.
