BOWLING GREEN – Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Lindsay Basalyga has announced the addition of nine student-athletes to the program. Paige Amodio (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville), Taylor Bucaro (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Francis), Sabrina Cisneros (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), Jessica Creech (Troy, Mich./Avondale), Michelle Denley (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas Aquinas), Jenna DiTusa (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis), Haley Malaczewski (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic), Alexis Manoa (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) and Melissa Needham (Saline, Mich./Saline) have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Falcons this fall.
"I'm really looking forward to getting this recruiting class on campus in August," said Basalyga. "It's a very balanced class, with players bringing a variety of different tools to the table athletically, technically and tactically. I have had the opportunity to see most of them play with either their club or high-school teams, and I think they will complement our current roster very well."
Amodio is a senior at Strongsville H.S., where she was coached by former BGSU men's soccer player Jon Felton. A three-year letterwinner for the Mustangs, she helped the team to a state championship in 2011 and state semifinal berths in both 2010 and ‘12. SHS had at least 20 wins in each of the three years, and had a combined record of 61-6-1 in that time. Amodio was named the team's top defender in 2012, and also earned all-conference (Northeast Athletic Conference Valley Division) accolades. She received All-Greater Cleveland honorable mention as a senior. In the classroom, Amodio is a National Honor Society member, and also is a member of the Spanish and math honor societies.
