Hundreds of people came together on Saturday to raise money for Brandon Heynes. He's the Millcreek Police officer who broke his back in three places, after a snowmobile accident on January 25th.
In order to raise money to cover expenses during his road to recovery, Brandon's friends put on a benefit at Crossfit FBO in Erie.
The first part of the benefit was a fitness competition, the second was a gathering with food and drinks.
Organizers say Brandon is the kind of person who would help anybody, and this time, they wanted to help him.
They were hoping to raise around five thousand dollars from Saturday's benefit.
Brandon was recently moved out of the ICU, to HealthSouth. Doctors, right now, have no time table regarding his recovery. His family members tell us they're taking it one day at a time.
