HAMDEN, Conn. -
The historic blizzard in New England is now over. The powerful nor' easter left behind 2-3 feet of snow over a few states, but south/central Connecticut was hit the hardest. At one point, the snow was falling at a rate of 5 to 6 inches per hour with flashes of lightning mixing into the scene. After the storm ended, the golden shovel award goes to all the folks in Hamden, CT where 40" of snow fell. That was the most recorded during the storm. Winds gusts over 80 mph along the coast with 50-70 mph wind gusts inland.
