The Erie Port Authority now has the money it needs to repair some crumbling dock walls.
Governor Tom Corbett has approved a $5 million grant to fix about 1,000 feet of wall in the slip behind the Intermodal Center. It's located between the Cruise Boat Terminal and the DonJon Shipbuilding complex.
Portions of the dock have been caving in for years.
The repairs are expected to begin in May, and take about 6 months to finish.
The authority hopes to new dock walls will mean much greater use of the slip.
