A brazen crime to report out of Millcreek.
Jewelry thieves got away with tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, from a Millcreek Mall store.
It's a bold theft. One so big, that Millcreek police investigators say it's the biggest jewelry heist they've ever seen.
Millcreek police say the 4 thieves got away with $45,000 dollars worth of diamond rings from Kays Jewelry store, inside the mall.
It happened Friday evening.
Millcreek police say the suspects declined help from a store employee.
Then, investigators say they cut the silicone on a glass display case, lifted up a corner, reached inside, and snagged 16 diamond rings.
They did it all in a matter of 5 to 10 minutes, as the 3 employees were busy helping other customers.
Millcreek police say they were so sneaky, employees didn't notice the jewelry missing until about an hour after the suspects left the store.
"There were 3 employees in the store at the time. There were other customers in the store that were being waited on by the employees. They waited for the opportunity when attention was diverted and with four of them there, I'm sure they were able to hide their actions." Said Millcreek Police Lt. Michael Tesore.
Investigators say this heist was so daring, and so well-planned that it's likely the thieves have done this before.
In fact, police say they could be the same suspects wanted for similar holdups in the state.
"We have looked into that and there have been other cases elsewhere in the state. We do have some leads of sorts, but it's in the early stages and we're continuing with the investigation." Said Lt. Tesore.
