The Mid-American Conference announced the preseason poll for baseball on Tuesday afternoon, as the coaches tabbed Bowling Green State University as the third best team in the East Division for 2013. The Falcons are selected to finish behind Kent State and Miami.
Central Michigan was picked to win the West Division, with Toledo and Eastern Michigan rounding out the top three.
Kent State was chosen to win the MAC Baseball Tournament by nine of the league's 12 coaches. The tournament, for the second straight season, will be held at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, Ohio. After their improbable run to the College World Series last season, the Golden Flashes will have a target on their back. The Falcons were the only team to defeat KSU twice in Conference play in 2012.
The Falcons return starters at every position this season, along with six of their top eight pitchers.
Head Coach Danny Schmitz is the active leader in wins among MAC coaches, entering 2012 with 588 career wins.
