The Toledo region is getting a facelift, but not in the physical sense. A new campaign is aimed at making the region more attractive for businesses, tourists and potential residents.
The idea behind the campaign is to brand this area as the 'new manufacturing economy'. All of this is enabled by digital technologies, advanced systems and a highly trained workforce. The budget for the promotion is between $100,000 and $150,000.
"We work with limited funding and resources, some regions are spending one to three million dollars per year," says Jeff Schaaf, the Toledo Region Brand Director.
Campaign organizers plan to roll out a promotional video, enhanced web site and media press campaign over the next few months. They have also been increasing their presence on social media since 2009, the year the concept was first put into place.
"To simplify it, we invent it, design it, build it, service it and ship it," says Schaaf. "And 'it' could be any number of things from solar panels to software."
