*OHP Chase
A 22-year-old Oregon woman is in the Wood County jail
after leading state troopers on a chase through two counties last night. Troopers say it started near North Baltimore after
midnight. They say 22-year-old Meaganne McGill drove into Hancock County, got
off on SR 12 and kept going. They say she almost hit multiple semis and cars. Troopers
attempted to stop the chase by boxing her in- and she was eventually arrested.
They say McGill hit both of the troopers patrol cars who tried to stop her. She
is in the Wood County jail facing multiple charges. Investigators say she was
drinking and could be charged with a number of felonies.
*UT Honors College Unveiled
Today, the University is
unveiling the Jesup Scott Honors College, a newly configured portal of entry
for well-prepared students. The reinvention of the Honors College and the
rebranding of the University's undergraduate experience for well-prepared
students is one of several key strategies to realize UT Provost and Executive
Vice President for Academic Affairs Scott Scarborough's vision for UT during
the next several years.

*OH – Mandel Questions Kasich's Medicaid
Plan
Ohio's state treasurer is
urging the legislature to reject an expansion of Medicaid. Josh Mandel sent a
letter to Republican lawmakers urging them to oppose governor John Kasich's
plan. Mandel says if Ohio expands Medicaid the state would be stuck with
long-term negative effects.
*OH – Activities Mark Shooting
Anniversary
(AP) - A concert, memorial
walk and service activities are among the plans to commemorate the first
anniversary of the shooting at Chardon High School that killed three students. The
(Willoughby) News-Herald reports that a carefully planned agenda has been
arranged to recognize the anniversary at the northeast Ohio school on Feb. 27. Plans
include a choir and band concert the night before. On the anniversary, there
will be a memorial walk and candlelight vigil.
*MI – State BAC Challenge
Michigan's legal blood
alcohol content limit could increase this year. But the state's Mothers Against
Drunk Driving is fighting to make sure that doesn't happen. The state's BAC threshold
is scheduled to automatically increase from .08 to .10 in October. Today MADD will
testify in front of the house criminal justice committee to support a bill that
would keep the BAC at .08.

*Ash Wednesday Today; Lenten Season
begins for Catholics
It's been a news-filled
week for the Catholic Church with the resignation announcement from the Pope. Today
is Ash Wednesday, the official start of the Catholic Church's solemn Lenten
season which leads up to Easter.
*California Manhunt Assumed Over
(AP) - Authorities in San Bernardino County,
Calif., believe the search for an ex-cop accused of murder is over. But they
say they won't know for sure if a body found in a burned-out mountain cabin is
Christopher Dorner until testing is done. Dorner was accused in a deadly
rampage that claimed four lives, including a police officer and a sheriff's
deputy. Authorities say he wanted revenge for getting fired from the Los
Angeles police force several years ago.
*State of the Union Road Trip

- President Barack Obama begins a three-day trip to push the job-creating and
economic proposals he unveiled at last night's State of the Union address.
Obama travels today to Asheville, N.C., where he'll visit a supplier of engine
and transmission components that has expanded its manufacturing operations.
Tomorrow, the president stops in Atlanta and he'll be in Chicago on Friday.
*Planning the Pope's Farewell

- The Vatican says Pope Benedict will spend his final day as pontiff attending
a morning farewell ceremony with his cardinals, then fly off by helicopter in
the early evening to his papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo. That
timetable means Benedict will be far from the Vatican when he ceases being pope
at 8 p.m. on Feb. 28. A Vatican spokesman says no formal or symbolic act will
be needed to make his resignation official at that time.
*Cruise Ship Due in Mobile Tomorrow
Afternoon
A Carnival
cruise ship being towed back to the U.S. is scheduled to be in Mobile, Alabama,
between 2 and 3 p.m. tomorrow. The cruise line says it's doing everything it
can to make passengers comfortable. An engine fire knocked out the ship's
propulsion on Sunday and left parts of the boat without running water or
working toilets. Two tugboats are now pulling that boat back to Mobile.
