The president of the Oregon school board has been charged following an incident in the Clay High School weight room last week. PJ Kapfhammer faces two charges for allegedly threatening a man with autism.
Menacing and disorderly conduct charges were filed against the school board president Wednesday. Kapfhammer allegedly yelled at the 25-year-old honorary manager of the Clay HS baseball team.
13abc spoke to Kapfhammer after the incident. He says he didn't know who the young man was and felt, at the time, he may have been a possible threat to other students, which is why he confronted him.
Parents from around the area had mixed views on the incident.
"After all the elementary school shootings and all that, I'd be a little on edge too with strange people in my building," says Renee Titus who believes he should get the benefit of the doubt.
"it does kind of worry you because these type of people are supposed to be role models for our kids," says Courtney Clouse, a TPS parent who doesn't agree with the way Kapfhammer addressed the man.
He will appear in Oregon Municipal Court on March 4. He could face fines if convicted.
