Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane says she will not sign off on a plan from Governor Tom Corbett to allow a British firm to run the state's 3.5 billion dollar Pennsylvania lottery system.
In remarks Thursday morning, Attorney General Kane, who is a democrat, says the decision to allow Camelot Global Services to run the lottery is not allowed by law.
Governor Corbett says the firm, which already oversees Britain's lottery, can do a better job of generating revenues from the lottery system.
The attorney general's office must review all state contracts which is why Kane has to sign off on the move.
The Governor could take the Kane decision to court. If he does, he won't be alone. The union that represents state lottery workers and democratic lawmakers are working on a court challenge to the Camelot deal.
