First, it was gunfire. Hours later, it was a raging fire.
Three people who lived in a house on Macomber near Auburn were spending Thursday night in a motel in fear of their safety.
Wednesday, Toledo Firefighters say someone shot at the house. That prompted the family to stay elsewhere for the evening.
Around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, the house caught fire. Firefighters contained the flames to the one home. It is considered a total loss.
Neighbors say overnight they heard a big explosion.
"I was down the street, I head the boom, when I came I just seen flames," says Ron Cash who lives next door. "I thought it was my house actually."
"I didn't see anything," says Luckey Armstrong who lives around the corner. "All I heard was a boom and my niece said, 'Uncle, go down and see what happened.'"
The investigation into how the house caught fire continues.
The brother, sister and her daughter who lived here were not physically harmed in either incident.
The Red Cross is now helping the family with food, clothing, and shelter.
