The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on N. Telegraph Road just south of Buhl Road in Frenchtown Township, County of Monroe, State of Michigan.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Larry D. Reaume, age 63, of Monroe, Michigan was operating a 2004 Ford Expedition SUV southbound on N. Telegraph Road, when it struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the road from east to west. The pedestrian, Timothy F. Walz, age 46, of Newport, Michigan was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash. Mr. Reaume was not injured in the crash.

It is believed that Mr. Walz was attempting to cross the road from the parking lot of the Gravel Pit Bar to go to the Kimberly Estates Mobile Home Park, which is located on the west side of N. Telegraph Road. Mr. Walz was dressed in dark clothing.

Alcohol appears to be a factor for Mr. Walz, however, is not believed to be a factor for Mr. Reaume. Mr. Reaume was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have information pertaining to this investigation is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office - Traffic Services Division at 734-240-7565.
