Future of controversial power line project

Posted: Updated:

The fight to save a farm full of Ohio history and natural habitat goes on.

First Energy wants to run power lines across Penninsular Farms near Fremont, but a lot of people don't like that idea.

They're worried about the bald eagles that call the place home. There are two nests on the property.

The owner of the farm, Don Miller doesn't want the lines. He's worried about the project disturbing the birds and disrupting an historical burial place.

A First Energy Rep says they work with federal and state agencies to preserve the wildlife and they choose a route with the least environmental impact.

First Energy needs to submit its final plan to the State and that report has not been submitted. When that happens, it will be reviewed and there will be an additional public meeting to get input.
