They're calling it LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! The Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania will host a fancy Oscar party Sunday February 24 at the Erie Art Museum beginning at 7:00 PM.
According to John C. Lyons, Executive Director of the film society, "Guests will enjoy plentiful hors d'oeuvres, prizes, spirits, silent auction and other lavish surprises followed by an Oscar viewing on the big screen at 8:00 PM."
The Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania was started to foster awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the art of film. The group holds regular viewings and discussions of films at the museum on Wednesday evenings. They also offer assistance, support and education for those producing regional films.
Admission to the special Oscar party is $45 dollars or $85 dollars per couple. That includes food by Bertrand's Bistro, drink tokens and live entertainment at a pre-party starting at 6:00 PM.
This year's films from Lincoln to Les Miserables and Argo to Zero Dark Thirty are expected to make it an interesting night in Hollywood, with Erie film fans following along. Organizers hope guests will dress like stars. The evening benefits the work of the local film society.
