The University of Toledo will play Nevada in football in a home-and-home series beginning in 2017, UT Athletic Director Mike O'Brien announced today. The Rockets will travel to Reno, NV on Sept. 9, 2017, while the Wolfpack will come to the Glass Bowl on Sept. 22, 2018.
Nevada, which plays in the Mountain West Conference, was 7-6 in 2012, its fifth-consecutive winning season. The Wolfpack fell to Arizona in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, 49-48. In 2010, Nevada went 13-1 and finished the season ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press poll.
"We are very pleased to enter into a football series with the University of Nevada," said O'Brien. "The Wolfpack have an outstanding football program. We look forward to hosting Nevada in the Glass Bowl in 2018, and anticipate that many of our fans will enjoy a visit Reno in 2017 to cheer on the Rockets."
"Nevada has consistently been one of the outstanding programs in the Mountain West Conference for many years," added head coach Matt Campbell. "We look forward to what should be an exciting and challenging series."
