Red light cameras earn $3 mil in fines for Toledo

Posted: Updated:

Toledo's red light cameras made a whole lot of money for the city in 2012.

The Blade reports the traffic cameras brought in nearly $3 million in fines last year. More than 68,000 citations were issued.

In 2011, red light fines brought in just over $1 million. The City expects to collect more than $4 million in 2013.

Cameras are posted at 11 new intersections in Toledo. Tickets cost drivers $120, with $90 going to Toledo.

You can contest a ticket, but if you ignore your fine, the fee goes up $25 additional dollars after a three-week period.
