The Erie Police Department has two investigations underway after a police pursuit ended with a driver slamming into several parked vehicles. It happened about 10:15 PM Monday. The female driver was thrown from her car in the accident. She was in traumatic arrest when rescuers arrived on the scene. They rushed her to UPMC Hamot Trauma Center. Police are investigating the traffic accident and the department's Bureau of Internal affairs is also investigating. That is protocol when a pursuit leads to an accident or injuries.
Witnesses at the scene say they saw a speeding vehicle hit a parked truck, then both vehicles spun out hitting several other cars. About seven vehicles in all were damaged. Police confirm that the woman was fleeing from officers at the time of the crash. Officers say the were responding to a harassment call.
