LANSING, Mich. (AP) - It's Election Day in about half the state.
Local elections are to be held on Tuesday in 42 of Michigan's 83 counties.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To find out if there's an election in their community, voters can visit the secretary of state's website or check with their county clerk's office.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson encouraged state residents to vote, saying in a statement "it only takes a few minutes to participate in 1 of our country's basic freedoms."
