Local agencies that could be affected by upcoming federal budget cuts are expressing frustration that a more reasonable approach couldn't be found.
Meals on Wheels, for instance, which has been delivering hot meals to shut in seniors since World War Two, could see one million clients affected nationwide following sequester cuts scheduled to kick in on Friday.
"It's pretty frustrating with the tone in Washington," Meals on Wheels Director Terry Pytlarz told us.
"Compromise seems to be a dirty word."
Local economist Dr. James Kurre says the cuts amount to 2.4% of the total federal budget.
"If your family was facing tight times," he said. "Could you cut 2.4% of your budget?"
Plenty could happen between now and Friday but so far no new talks are scheduled.
