From Aurora, Colorado to Newtown, Connecticut, mass shootings have claimed the lives of dozens of innocent people recently.
So Wednesday, the issue was the topic of a special forum at Edinboro University.
From the sociology and psychology departments, to criminal justice, 5 Edinboro professors offered their expert knowledge on the issue of mass shootings.
"There's not one thing that's going to solve the problem. Mental health does need a look, and it does need a lot of resources. But in terms of will that solve the violence problem, the shootings that happen in education and elsewhere, no." Said Dr. Michael Bucell, of Edinboro's Counseling and Psychological Services Department.
"We've had 9,000 murders in this country every year. Less than 1% of them are related to mass shootings. So if you still put it in perspective, places are still safe, schools are still safe." Said Dr. Kevin Courtright, of the Political Science/Criminal Justice Department.
