It appears the final phase of the Erie International Airport runway project will cost less than expected.
Five bids for re paving the old portion of the runway were opened late this afternoon. And the apparent low bid was about $8.9 million, that's about $759,000 less than projected.
The bid will now be reviewed before a contract is finalized. If all goes according to plan, the paving project will be done by fall.
It will wrap up the huge project that included the construction of the runway extension and re-routing Powell Avenue.
