A domestic dispute called out the Millcreek and Erie SWAT Teams early Sunday morning. A more than four hour standoff ended with a local man behind bars.
The problem started just after 3:00 AM with a 9-1-1 call to a home at 6043 Cobblestone Road.
Police say the suspect, 53-year-old David Sherwood of Oliver Road, was threatening his girlfriend with a handgun. Her children were also in the home.
SWAT Teams negotiated first to get the children and their mother to safety and then convinced Sherwood to surrender.
"For the sake of everyone's safety, the SWAT Team was called in after a few hours," said Lt. Carter Mook of the Millcreek Police Department's patrol unit. "It ended just before eight o'clock this morning. No one was injured."
Charges against Sherwood include terroristic threats, simple assault and possessing an instrument of crime.
He's in the Erie County Prison, with bond set at $10,000.
