Posted: Updated:

FINDLAY - The University of Findlay women's basketball team concluded their regular season with a 73-61 win at home over Hillsdale College on Saturday, March 2.  The victory gives the Oilers a 22-4 record on the season with a 19-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 43-24 advantage at the break thanks to the hot shooting of senior forward Kayla Brown, who put up 29 points in the opening period.  Brown connected on 9-of-11 shot attempts in the first half, draining six three pointers in the process.

Findlay then cruised through the second half and will enter the GLIAC Tournament as the two-seed.

Brown led the way with a career-high 35 points on 12-of-18 shooting.  Her 35 points in the win tied Mianda Watts for third place all-time on the single game scoring list at Findlay.  Watts put up 35 in a 92-81 win over Oklahoma Christian on March 17, 2000.

The Mt. Blanchard, Ohio native also hit a career-high six triples and contributed three rebounds and three steals in the game.

Junior guard Ashley Andrews also reached double figures for Findlay with ten points as the Oilers shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49) from the floor.

Senior guard Laura Piehl, making her first start of the season, had a strong game as well with six points and a season-high eight rebounds.

The Chargers, who connected on 45.1 percent (23-of-51) of their field goal attempts, were led by Megan Fogt's 22 points and nine rebounds.

The Oilers will host a GLIAC Tournament game on Wednesday, March 6 at 8 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
