The former state trooper involved in a deadly drunk driving crash a year ago, pleaded "no contest" to two charges in court Monday.
A Pennsylvania state police trooper will spend at least the next 3 years behind bars, when he's sentenced next month.
Monday afternoon, 36 year old state trooper Jeffrey Dalessandro plead "no contest" to homicide by motor vehicle while DUI, and DUI.
He's facing 3 to 101/2 years behind bars.
Dalessandro is accused of killing 21 year old Daryl Nunemaker in a drunk driving crash along Route-6 near Union City, last February.
His blood alcohol level was .13, when he crossed the center line and hit Nunemker's vehicle head-on.
He was off-duty at the time.
By pleading no contest Monday, prosecutors dropped all other charges including involuntary manslaughter.
"It's an unfortunate situation," said Dalessandro's attorney, Leonard Ambrose. "Quite frankly my client feels extremely horrible about this whole situation. He came up here to Steelhead fish and in the process, like a lot of people, they simply have a little too much to drink and it's a sad situation for all the people involved." Ambrose added.
Dalessandro will be sentenced in April.
According to Ambrose, he'll likely get 3-6 years in jail, but again he faces a maximum of 10 and a half years behind bars.
Ambrose says this all means he'll also be fired as a trooper. "There is none (future) with the PA State Police. I mean his term with state police is over with, obviously his suspension will become a termination." Said Ambrose.
