CLERMONT, FLA. - The Adrian College softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday to fall to 1-3 overall early in the season. Adrian could not get past Coe College, 3-1, in game one and then Misericordia rallied for a 6-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Coe College (5-1) got all it needed from Morgan Louck both at the plate and in the circle. Louck hit a two-run homer in the fifth and went 6.2 innings allowing one earned run with three strikeouts. Brianna Hull went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the leadoff spot for the Kohawks.
Brooke Stewart evened her record at 1-1, but fared very well going seven innings allowing eight hits and three earned runs. K'ya Toles-Burton went 2-for-3 with a double and scored the lone run.
Misericordia (2-2) used a five-run fifth inning to break open a close game in the second game of the day. Caitlin Crowley did double duty going 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and also throwing a complete game, five-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts. Kelsey Meyer was the hard luck loser in the circle as Adrian committed three errors in that five-run fifth. Meyer gave up just one earned run in six innings and struck out two.
Kaitlyn Hinojosa collected two doubles to run her season total to four. Hinojosa is batting .500 through four games this season. She drove in two runs and Karissa DeVore also had a triple and scored a run. Both teams left four runners on base.
