It's hoped to be one of the biggest and grandest parades of the year. But where would it be without a few floats?
Today members of the Perry 200 committee handed out more than $8500 in grants to 22 civic and non-profit organizations, all of whom submitted applications to build floats for the May 25 Grand Patriotic Parade.
The Parade is part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie, which took place in 1813.
"Our float is based on the Flagship with sails with our logo on it," Therapy Dogs United's Bridget Buzard told us. "It's a huge paw print because our dogs put an imprint of a paw on the heart of who we visit."
Besides floats, the parade will have huge helium balloons, marching bands and military units. It's part of a summer of festivities leading up to the anniversary which is in September.
