Erie City Council President Jim Winarski today announced he is running for a second term. He made the announcement at Erie City Hall in front of a crowd of about 50 family members, friends and supporters.
He said he has taken a "common sense" approach to city government, trying to look at problems and possible solutions from the perspective of the average taxpayer.
He thinks council has come a long way in stabilizing the city's finances and public safety departments. His goal is to continue on that path.
Winarski said, "To maintain a balanced budget, to help economic growth and to look out for public safety of the citizens of Erie."
Winarski took over the leader of council in January.
