Fortis Institute, the area career training facility wants to raise awareness about the problem of bullying. They organized a seminar geared specifically for high school officials from superintendents and principals to counselors. 12News Today morning anchor Kara Coleman was part of the panel leading the discussion, along with the county's chief public defender, mat-v, and the crime victim center.
Fortis officials say everyone can lead by example on this issue and educators can help. "I think people are having trouble differentiating between being assertive and being abusive," said Fortis President, Peter Correa. "And I think the educational component adds to that, in being able to differentiate the two." Fortis officials say they see the effects of bullying first hand, when they recruit in area schools.
