CLEVELAND (AP) - An Ohio congresswoman's office says automatic spending cuts could cost more than 150 jobs at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.

A spokesman for Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur tells The Plain Dealer that NASA told Kaptur's office about 150 support staff jobs would be lost and the cuts would suspend a program to store rocket fuels at low temperatures.

About $85 billion in government-wide spending cuts took effect March 1.

Kaptur spokesman Steve Fought says the research center faces a tough fiscal environment, but he notes it's possible a funding resolution being considered by the U.S. Senate could alter the NASA cuts.

The newspaper says a spokeswoman for the center referred questions to the space agency's headquarters, whose official statement is broad and doesn't address reductions for various facilities.
