TOLEDO, Ohio -
It's the middle of March, and after a mild weekend, chilly weather has returned.
You probably remember the unusual spell of very warm weather, exactly a year ago.
Last year, from March 11th through the 25th, highs consistently reached the 60s, 70s and 80s.
The abrupt start to the warm season did cause problems for some farmers and gardeners, as we later fell below freezing seven times in April.
After three days of 60s, we broke into the 70s starting on March 14th, and soared into the 80s from the 19th to the 22nd, a year ago.
This year, it's a totally different story.
Temperatures will run slightly below average, with highs mainly in the upper 30s and low to mid 40s, most days, through the start of spring.
Average highs, this time of the year, are around 45.
To this point, National Weather Service data shows that March of 2013 is running 0.8° colder than the long-term average.
