If you were hoping run for office in this upcoming primary, you're too late. Tuesday was the deadline to turn in your petitions.
Doug Smith, Clerk of Elections, said a large number of people turned their petitions in on Tuesday, a lot of them for local positions. Smith said this year, there are a lot of township and boro positions up for grabs.
"This is really what we preach to people when they talk to us," said Smith. "This is the level that you want to get involved in and these are the offices, your township, you boro, your school board, where you are going to have the most effect on your community."
On Wednesday, Smith says we'll have a better picture of viable contests coming up this May.
