Millcreek township has a new police officer.
Herbert Lucas was sworn in Tuesday morning at the township supervisors meeting.
He served in the US Army military police, and was deployed to Iraq as a forensic investigator.
He also served on a team that protected Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
In between military assignments, he served as an officer with the Franklin police department.
"I'm excited to start a career up here. I've been gone for a long time. I've been gone with the military for a year and a half from Northwestern PA. I'm excited to be coming back and getting back into police work after a hiatus." Said Lucas.
Lucas is a native of Guys Mills and graduated from Maplewood High School.
